Heya Wild Ones!

Just a quick update for y’all today. First, we’re going to have another short hiatus in chapters posting for Chosen of Kore. I have again run out of buffer and am still working on Chapter 40 as I write this.

The initial speed of the rewrite has tapered as things have changed more, so my initial optimism in posting schedule has clearly needed some revision.

However! I did make a small breakthrough yesterday which should improve that speed once again. I was running into continuous roadblocks as I worked on Chapter 40 (which changed POV from Ghia to Jules), which is weird because usually I have zero issues writing these two characters (they are my faves).

I finally realized what the problem was yesterday, which is that I’ve now reached a point in the rewrite where things have changed enough I can no longer tackle it as I was, which was going chapter-by-chapter through and rewriting things as I came across them. I needed to go through the rest of the chapters and take a broader view—figure out what each chapter was aiming to accomplish, and then figure out if that aim could be accomplished in another chapter (or cut altogether).

So that’s what I did yesterday! Only with the rest of Part 2, because I won’t be able to answer those questions about Part 3 until I finish rewriting Part 2. Six handwritten notebook pages (back and front) later, and I have a plan!

And it feels much better.

I am very hopeful this will up my speed as much as it can be upped. The other reason for my slowdowns have been some health issues that have cropped up and made my days off less time for me to work on my actual projects and more time for me to recover, but I am still attempting to write on my lunch breaks at work, so there’s definite chipping away at it.

That’s the quick update! I’ll try to post a slightly bigger one this weekend, if I can, but for right now I need to get as much writing done as I can before I need to get to bed so I can get up for work tomorrow.

Wildly,

Katje
