so I’m doing it
(a rare public post!)
I’m rewriting Chosen of Kore. I’m over 22K in and it’s…different. some chapters are getting very minor changes and others are being totally changed. the writing style is being updated in every single chapter, regardless how much content I change.
story’s the same. characters, backstories, worldbuilding–changing all of it as I see fit.
also, fun fact–discovered an error in a chapter that had missed all my revisions and edits and just sat in the book for 15 years. even missed it during my text updates!
amazing. anyway that’s fixed now.
and the book is much better. but you don’t have to take my word for it–you’ll get to see for yourself. chapters coming here in April! if you’re a Follower or above you’ll get to see the new and improved Chosen of Kore before I relaunch.
I’ll be keeping the old-but-still-pretty good version available for all tiers for a while, but eventually I’ll probably make it exclusive to higher tiers. we’ll see. haven’t decided.
anyway, you can have fun looking at the differences and seeing what I chose to change. maybe someday I’ll release an annotated version where I explain my thought process behind the changes (if there is one, lol).
chapters should be coming April 15th! they will be in the new collection “Chosen of Kore v 2.0”.
so if you haven’t signed up to follow along with all my updates here yet, then this is your sign to do so! Chosen of Kore rewrite chapters coming very soon! and unhinged updates in between. (though actually April will probably be sparse on updates because I will be working the day job, attempting to write 75,000 words of rewrites, and scheduling chapters for posting.)
speaking of, I’m getting back to today’s to-do list, which is a) get ready for the work week starting tomorrow and b) write as much as I can.
wildly,
katje
PS: would you like an excerpt? I can give you an excerpt. here is a bit from Ghia’s first chapter!
~~~~~
“I thought, at first, that you might have come by to check on your wounded,” she said as she rose from her crouch and turned back to face him.
Jules started and shook his head, as if he’d been klicks away, mentally if nothing else. He frowned in confusion at her. “Why would you think that?”
Ghia shrugged, trying to keep the motion light, as she handed over the box of tea. “I’ve seen more of Bellica Yarrow this past sevenday than I have the past year. She’s been in almost every day checking on her troops. Looking more like a worried hen than a seasoned warrior. Took me threatening to keep her here and drugged up for exhaustion and stress overload to stop her constant hovering.”
Ghia hadn’t missed how Jules’ jaw had tightened at the first mention of his bellica, but as she went on his face relaxed and he even let out a chuckle, though it was hollow-sounding. “I’d wager she didn’t like that.”
“Cursed my name to all the goddesses.”
An eyebrow raise. “She didn’t.”
“Well,” Ghia relented, “she definitely thought about doing so. If glares could kill, I’d be stone dead.”
“I’m very glad they can’t, then.” Jules’ gaze was a little too direct, a little too serious in reaction to what had been her jesting, and Ghia found herself out of sorts with it, her heart beating a little too fast, her face—again—heating to the approximate temperature of a forest fire.
